Important Information on Access and Covid-19

We are looking forward to welcoming you at the festival and are working to make festival events as safe as possible for everyone. All CTM 2022 artists, team, and venue staff are fully vaccinated and will undertake daily testing. We strictly limit the amount of visitors present at the festival’s events. In-person event access is offered under the »2G+« rule (vaccinated, recovered, plus booster shot or negative test, and wearing a FFP2 mask throughout the event). Please check the Festival Access & Hygiene Rules for detailed information. Should you have any further questions or concerns regarding covid regulations or other aspects of your festival visit, please check our Festival FAQs or write us at accessibility@ctm-festival.de.

Modular Organ System

Modular Organ System, installation view, La Vallée, Brussels, 2021 Photo: Phillip Sollmann

Performative sound installation by Philip Sollman & Konrad Sprenger with interventions by Arnold Dreyblatt, Brass Abacus, Ellen Arkbro, Kali Malone & Stephen O'Malley, Will Guthrie.

Existing in the liminal space between concert, installation, environment, and performance, »Modular Organ System« is a multi-part instrument built from numerous sound generating objects that can be controlled by computer. The project interweaves contemporary electronic and computer music with organ traditions and is a working collaboration between visual artists, organ builders, technologists, and artisans. Musicians of diverse practices have been invited to experiment with the instrument over the course of ten days. During this time, the presentation will alternate between various modes of sound production, ranging from sound installation to precomposed pieces to improvisational dialogues between the performing artists and the system.

Presented by singuhr-projekte in collaboration with CTM Festival. Funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, and the Co-production Funds of the Berlin Senate for Culture and Europe.

Vorspiel Opening

Vorspiel is an initiative by transmediale and CTM Festival that aims to showcase the richness and diversity of Berlin's independent project spaces and artist initiatives active in music and sound, visual and media arts, as well as connected hybrid fields. The event opening takes over multiple locations within the silent green complex and features many performances, screenings, and site-specific installations by some of the over 65 initiatives participating this year. The »Modular Organ System« performative installation will also be accessible as part of the events.

Don't forget to also check out the new Vorspiel website, that will launch shortly before the opening event, including in-depth information about Berlin’s independent arts scene, dedicated pages portraying collectives/initiatives, plus select commissioned essays, photos, and more.

Please note, for this event access requirement is fully vaccinated or recovered  plus a negative Covid-19 test no older than 24 hours for everyone including people that have received their booster. Please check the Festival Access & Hygiene rules for detailed and current information on Covid-19 regulations.

Virtual Visits

Virtual Visit to »Happiness« installation by Dries Verhoeven at CTM 2021 Photo: Eunice Maurice

A limited number of virtual visits are available to the »Modular Organ System« as well as all other upcoming installations and exhibitions at the festival. Conducted by local friends and colleagues within CTM’s extended network, the visits aim to foster personal exchange, and to offer a glimpse of several CTM events at a time when more people than ever might not be able to make it in person.
